Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover The Cars In Honor Of Ric Ocasek

Red Hot Chili Peppers are just one of the many bands mourning the loss of The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. During their concert in Singapore over the weekend, they paid tribute to the late rock icon by covering The Cars’ hit “Just What I Needed.”

In a fan-shot video, a shirtless Anthony Kiedis and Flea are shown give the rendition their all on stage, getting cheers from the crowd as they reach the iconic track’s chorus.

Back when news of Ocasek’s untimely death first broke, Flea was one of the first to take to social media in mourning. In a post to Instagram, the bassist said the Cars’ albums were “just like candy” to him when he was a teenager.
