Green Day Release New Single For A Good Cause

Green Day has released a new song for a good cause. The band has announced that they’ll donate the royalties from their latest single “Oh Yeah!” to sexual assault charities.

Why that particular cause? Well, the chorus to “Oh Yeah!” samples Joan Jett’s 1980 version of “Do You Wanna Touch Me,” a song originally by disgraced musician Gary Glitter. Charities benefitted by the track include International Justice Mission and RAINN.

“Yes that’s a @joanjett sample you’re hearing,” the band writes on Twitter. “Since one of the writers on that song is a total a**hole, we decided to donate our royalties.”
