Chris Cornell’s Unreleased Cover Of Guns N’ Roses Shared On Late Rocker’s Birthday
Fans are getting to hear a previously unreleased cover of Guns N’ Roses’ classic ballad “Patience” by the late Chris Cornell. The rare cover was released yesterday on what would have been the late Soundgarden singer’s 56th birthday.
Cornell doesn’t stray too much from the original, starting off on acoustic guitar until some synths and percussion kick in. The cover has been shared along with a message on Cornell’s official Facebook page, saying that releasing music that was “special” to the late rocker is what “keeps a part of him here with us.”
“His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories and art,” the post reads. “It is true a man is not dead while his name is still spoken… and, through his art, an artist’s soul still burns just as bright as ever upon all those that look up to him and his memory.”
- ONE MORE THING! Cornell’s daughter Lily Cornell Silver has honored her late father’s birthday with the launch of her new IGTV series, “Mind Wide Open.” The show aims to “help destigmatize the conversation about mental health,” welcoming author and trauma expert Laura van Dernoot as the first guest. Check it out HERE.
- But wait… THERE’S MORE! If you want another way to honor Cornell’s legacy, consider picking up his new biography, “Total F*cking Godhead: The Biography of Chris Cornell.” The 384-page book comes out on July 28th, written by Corbin Reiff.
